Divorce Parties: Is it Ok to Celebrate?

Your divorce is final. Those are some powerful words. Depending on the length of your marriage, you may have spent the majority of your life married and connected to one person. Now it is over and you must officially move on. It may be a sad time or it may be a time of optimism. No matter what your situation is, it’s all up to you now. We are not here to give you advice on how to deal with all of these emotions. We are certainly not in a position to tell you where to go with your life now. What we can do is advise you to do what humans are really good at: HAVE A PARTY!

Yes, Virginia, Divorce Can Be Celebrated!

In the “old days“, divorce was frowned upon. You were expected to work it out and stay together. We all know that it is not so easy, especially in these times we live in. Sometimes things just don’t last or work out and marriage is no exception. It can definitely be a time of sadness and loss. However, it can also be a time to celebrate and give thanks for a fresh start. Maybe the key to moving forward is to do it with some humor and grace. A party that is themed in a fun and positive way could be the key to marking this momentous life-changing event. A Happy Divorce Party

Regardless of whether your split was amicable or not, YOU have the ability to end it all that way. There are many fun ideas for your party. You can make it a small intimate affair or a big bash with all the trimmings. It is truly YOUR party, perhaps for the first time in decades, it really is all about you! It is normal to feel anger or sadness or loss. LAUGH instead. Celebrate the positives and downplay the negatives. It is healthier for you to make a fresh start with a smile on your face.
