For those unaware, Google offers a“Veteran-Led” business designation. Being a veteran-owned business we became aware of and signed up for this program some months ago. Google explains it best:

As part of a broader effort to use technology and to help the veteran community, Google is making it easier to identify your local business as veteran-led on Google Search and Maps. If your business is owned, led, or founded by a veteran, you can enable this “Veteran-Led” attribute through Google My Business. It will appear on your Google listing alongside other details like “Has Wifi” or “Outdoor Seating.”

Google Issues Military Style Challenge Coin

The mail arrived for The Beacon Center yesterday and we received a nice surprise. A Challenge Coin issued by Google. In recognition of our inclusion in the Veteran-Led Badge program with Google, we were issued the above-pictured Challenge Coin. Quite a nice gesture by such a giant company. Members of the US Armed Forces, Law Enforcement, and Firefighters have a long-standing tradition of carrying such coins that symbolize unit identity and brotherhood. The coin bears unique unit symbols or mottos that identify the group in which they represent, and are often traded, presented, and collected between unit members.

An Honor Shared Equally Among Business Owners

Just as Google is proud to support Veteran-Led businesses, The Beacon Center is proud to take part in this honor program. As a Veteran owned business, we take pride in our involvement and commitment to our nation’s Military Veterans. We carry the traditions of service, honor, and commitment learned in the armed forces to our customers on a daily basis. This beautiful keepsake is proudly displayed and is a constant reminder of our commitment to the values that make this the greatest country in history.
