Customer Loyalty | Why it is so important to your business

Customer Loyalty PhotoCustomer Loyalty – A Business Cornerstone

Customer Loyalty, you can’t buy it. You can’t gain it through slick ads or marketing campaigns. It won’t magically appear on your profit and loss statement. You have to earn your customer’s loyalty. It is the cornerstone of any reputable, successful business. Regardless of what product or service you sell, getting customers to keep coming back is the holy grail of retail. Eventually one of your competitors is going to undercut your prices. They will promise the world to your current customers, whether they can deliver or not. If that happens, will your customers line up at your competition’s door or maintain their loyalty to you? The time to consider this is overdue in today’s fast-changing business environment. How Is Your Customer Loyalty?

It would be nice if there was a line on your P&L to help you track customer loyalty. Many businesses opt for a client file where all the records of your business or purchases with them are recorded. Some go a step further and institute a tracking system for repeat customers. The smartest ones remain in regular contact with their customers through loyalty programs, email advertising, and perhaps even an old fashioned idea…A Coupon. In all seriousness, you can track your repeat customers, it just takes a little effort. Without tracking and follow up, your business may be doomed to always farming for new customers. A very costly and difficult endeavor for anyone.

The Key To Loyalty Among Your Customers

I am going to let you in on a little secret now. It is pretty obvious to any business owner but should probably be driven home to your employees on a more consistent basis. This issue is the single biggest make or breaks moment in customer loyalty. Good Customer Service. Take care of your customers, provide them with friendly service and a good product at a competitive price. If you and your staff can do these little things, Customer Loyalty will come naturally. Ignore the wants, needs, and desires of your customers at your own peril.
