Distractions – The Meeting Killer

DistractionsDistractions Can Be Deadly

You can literally kill your meeting and it’s intended purpose before the talking ever starts. Nothing damages an event like unwanted or unwarranted distractions. This applies not only to meetings but literally any event where people gather to talk, learn or share ideas. Distractions like your wife vacuuming during the big game or your husband crashing your book club meeting. Seriously, marital issues notwithstanding, when you are trying to get things done you don’t need distractions interrupting the flow or direction of your confab. [tweet_box design=”default” float=”right” width=”30%”]Nothing damages an event like unwanted or unwarranted distractions.[/tweet_box]

But I love Babies

Of course, you do, don’t we all? Babies rank right up there with puppies on the sweetness meter. EXCEPT, when you are trying to hold a meeting and discuss important issues. You have experienced the toddler peering over the back of the seat at a restaurant. It’s cute until they start screaming because mom or dad wants them to sit down and eat. Ever try holding a meeting with someone over a meal or even a drink without distractions? Privacy and concentration are not on the menu. But you did get a good price on the space. After all your attendees are the ones paying…for their meal…to attend YOUR event. Hardly seems fair, does it? Many times when a person schedules a meeting or gathering at an eating establishment, they get the space at no cost. In exchange the eaterie expects your attendees to buy drinks and meals. Not exactly free.

At What Cost?

While you may have saved money on an event venue rental, as we mentioned, it is not free. Often it costs your guests with the expected meal and drinks covers for each. It costs your attendees complete attention to the issue at hand. It can also pose a cost in terms of lost opportunities and poor customer perceptions. Holding your important gathering or meeting in the back room of the local Golden Corral sounds yummy. That is until you find out your little meeting is sharing the room with two other groups, who got their meeting space for free also. Talk about distractions…. Not exactly conducive to creativity, privacy or serious thought. At The Beacon Center, you will find no distractions. No peeping toddlers, no loud music, no distractions….period. Just a clean, professional and affordable location to hold your important meeting or event. Let us show you how to have a distraction-free event.
