Reducing Party Expenses
It is quite a conundrum. You want a successful party, but you also have a budget. In the past, it seemed the idea was to invite as many people as a venue would fit. Times change, but the budget has always been an issue in party planning. In fact, it has become paramount for many folks. One might say that cost is now the limiting factor in planning a party. Celebrations and parties will continue despite what doomsayers may profess. Neither costs nor reduced occupancy limits or government mandates can completely eliminate or reduce the desire and need for humans to gather in groups. So, where does that leave us?
What Is Your “Party Purpose”?
It’s quite simple, why are you hosting a party? Do you have a specific goal? Is it just to hang out with family and friends? Is it to celebrate a milestone? A Birthday party? an Anniversary or perhaps it is a Life Celebration for a dearly departed? Regardless of your purpose, planning has always been necessary for any event to be successful. Today, you can add in health concerns and greater government controls on gatherings to further complicate the process. For the next step in our suggestions for reducing party expenses, please pull out a paper and pen.
As Simple as ABC
With your pen and that fresh sheet of paper, we want you to practice your ABC’s.
A – Assemble – Assemble your guest list. Put down the names of everyone you would like to invite.
B– Budget – Write down your budget number at the top of the page. It should be an amount that is set in stone or it will inevitably rise as the party planning proceeds.
C – Cut – This is the key step…erase all the names of people you don’t really know that well. Now erase all the names of people who you are pretty sure wouldn’t show up anyway. Next, erase the people that you know but don’t really like all that much. Finally, erase any names that are not family, friends, or influencers in your life. You have just eliminated all the excess from your guest list.
Now the party planning can begin in earnest. Yes, it really is that simple. Only invite people you really want to spend time with. That is the purpose of parties anyway. right?
