Find Your Voice in Vegas
Are you a business coach, a speaker or a new author? Do you dream of being in front of crowds, explaining your philosophy of life or business? Are you like many people, terrified of speaking in public? The thought of a big stage paralyzes many new public speakers, while the desire remains. Few of us can stand on a convention stage and mesmerize folks like Tony Robbins or Bob Burg. Holding a speaking conference doesn’t have to be scary or hard.
A good way to start your speaking career may be to think small. Few beginning speakers can command an audience large enough to justify a big hall or convention center. Combining this reality with the smaller population in your home area, finding your voice in Las Vegas could give you a good start in your speaking career. Your speaking career can start smoothly when you choose the right venue. It certainly is less nerve-wracking to think of speaking to 10 people than it is to a group of 100.
Speaking is Critical to Success
For the successful entrepreneur, public speaking must be part of your skill set. No matter what topic you speak on, having opportunities is critical. You will want a venue that has options for your event and of course, that you can afford. Holding your first speaking conference in Las Vegas may sound intimidating, but it doesn’t have to be. This is the home of entertainment after all and speaking IS entertainment.
- What are you offering? Is it a product or an idea? Maybe it is just the compelling story of your life.
- Practice delivering your message. Perhaps start with friends or family. Maybe just stand in front of a mirror.
- Research your topic. Know your product, whether it is you or something you believe in.
- Take a class or join Toastmasters. Some public speakers start out in front of other aspiring speakers.
- Commit. If you aren’t sure about public speaking or your message how will you get others to buy what you are selling?
A Public Speaking Conference just isn’t for me
Ok, so you won’t be appearing on Shark Tank or rubbing shoulders with Richard Branson. That doesn’t mean you can’t or shouldn’t hold a speakers event. As we noted before, every person in the business world needs to have some measure of comfort speaking in public. Holding a small event in the Entertainment Capital of the World could just be the best thing you ever do for your business. Whether you are self-promoting your first book, have a new product that will change the world or just have a story to tell, speaking to potential customers in a small venue could be the right way to start.
