Tying The Knot Without Busting The Budget

Busting the Budget photoA trip to the courthouse is not a storybook wedding but it is easy on the budget. There is absolutely nothing wrong with getting married cheaply. The emotions, feelings, and certificate are the same for a justice of the peace as they are for a $100,000 dream wedding. All the ladies out there just shuddered, but in reality, you are still married to your soul mate and life will be the same as you go forward, no matter how you tie the knot. If you can afford it…have a wedding to end all weddings. If you can’t afford it, don’t let a small budget get you down. You can have a great time without starting your married life in debt.

Cheap Wedding or Wedding Done Cheap

It seems like everything related to marriage is expensive. Wedding venues, rehearsal dinners, flowers, cakes, and then we get to the obligatory Wedding Reception. Now there is the caterer, DJ, bartender and more to pay for. Before you know it the costs have ballooned and the wedding budget now resembles the National Debt.

What are a prospective Bride and Groom to do? You can get your Aunt to do the cake, your cousin has a small DJ setup and Uncle Joe makes a hell of a bartender. So, you get married at the courthouse and hold your reception in grandma’s back yard. Well, it IS cheaper, just not what you dreamed of as a little girl.

Yes Virginia, Affordable Wedding Receptions Are Real

Fear not ladies and gents, all is not lost. It is not only possible but likely more enjoyable to have a simple, fun wedding reception. I know we poked fun at the budget reception previously. However, you can’t deny that you would still be married when it was over and you will probably have a boatload of fun in granny’s back yard. There are affordable venues and packages out there for brides and grooms. The true key to affordable celebrations is to decide what is really important to the new couple. For instance, if you are not really a fan of bakery goods, ditch the expensive cake and serve ice cream. You can always forgo the Professional DJ and his standard playlist and stream your favorite songs from your smartphone. There is another part of the process that can save you big bucks also…Location.
